- Viewing distance and testing technique affect acuity-style exercises
- Tools do not assess eye health structures (retina, optic nerve, pressure, ocular surface disease screening, etc.)
- A reassuring online result does not rule out disease
- Children and people with sudden symptoms need professional evaluation rather than self-testing alone
No prescribing
Calculators and prescription explainers help you understand terminology. They do not tell you which lenses to buy and must not be used to order eyewear without a valid prescription from a licensed professional when required by law.
Emergency and urgent symptoms
If you are unsure whether a symptom is urgent, contact an eye-care professional or emergency services promptly rather than waiting on an online tool result.
